Week 1

February 02, 2009

At last, I have a company to start my on-the-job training. It was my first day in the Land Bank of The Philippines Balagtas Branch located at San Juan, Balagtas, Bulacan. The guards of that company was so hospitable because they welcomed me with warmth greetings. There is a one employee of the bank (Ms. Daisy Yutuc) who told me to make a name plate for they to know my name. After making my name plate, the supervisor (Mrs. Estelita Mateo) of that company ring the bell, that means it is the start of the morning prayer before we do everything. The morning prayer end up. The guards wait for 8:30am to flip the close/open card of the company. Then 8:30am arrived and the working hours had start.

I am assigned in the New Accounts. We do assist our clients in opening their accounts such as ATM Cards, Savings Account (Passbook), etc... They did not orient me on whats going on, its just like I'm just a floating student trainee and just watching what the other student trainees had done. Then the clock turns to 12nn, its time for us to have our lunch break outside the bank but before going to have our lunch and going to a food house, we will log our time in the bounty clock. The rule in having our lunch is: 20 minutes, it is the given time for us to eat our lunch, then after 20 minutes we will go back to the bank but it will count minus 1 hour from our daily time even though it is only 20 minutes. Then after 20 minutes of making our tummy big, its time for us to go back in the bank.

Then, I sit again in the New Accounts, watching what they are doing until 3pm arrived. The gate of the bank was closed, because 'till 3pm was the working hours of the bank. I'm wondering, how about the other client/s that was not yet end to their transactions? Now I know, even though the gate of the bank was closed, the staff of the bank will make the transaction/s of the other client/s that was remaining inside the bank. Then the client/s was all gone because the staff was done in their transaction/s. After several minutes, one of the student trainee told to me that we will have a meeting between the OJT's and the Manager (Ms. Cecilia Sayo). We entered to the office of Ms. Sayo, then she said "I didn't know your name yet, and the background of yours, now we will face off. Tell me about yourself. Volunteer?" No one wants to be first as always, then Ms. Sayo said again, "Ok, no one volunteered so we will start to her." Then, the interview goes on and on and on 'till it comes to me. I introduced myself, I started on "My name is ... and etc...". I was the last person to introduced. Then she said "I hope that you will learn in our company from the different things that are happening in this bank. I am looking forward on your progress."
